Introduction
Knowledge Services, based at Dudley Public Library, the Brierley Hill Health & Social Care Centre and Sandwell Office of Public Health provides a range of services focused on improving access to the evidence base of Public Health and Public Health-related practitioners.
We stock a range of material for both loan and reference. Stock includes books, videos, reports, journals and teaching packs. Borrowing entitlements are determined by status, but most staff will be allowed to borrow up to ten items at any one time for a maximum period of four weeks.
Access to electronic resources such as the Core Content Clinical Databases, the Cochrane Library and NHS Evidence is also available. Training is provided for users who wish to maximise their use of these resources and develop effective searching and appraisal skills. Additionally, Knowledge Services offers a Literature Searching Service, where an extensive search of the electronic resources is conducted on any topic connected with the work of staff in the relevant organisations. We also provide an electronic current awareness service, the weekly Health News Digest, which is sent to a large number of staff - within and outside the organisation.
There is currently no charge for any of these services although fines are charged on overdue items. You don’t even have to come into Knowledge Services to make use of us – telephone 01384 816173 or email your enquiries to: knowledgeservices@dudley.gov.uk or use Knowledge Services Online.
